Today I saw this article, which was exciting to me because of an internship I did with Jhpiego (pronounced ja-PIE-go) earlier this academic year. Jhpiego is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of women and families around the world. My task was to do Skype interviews with community health leaders in Southeast Asia, with the goal of finding out whether and how they had implemented or shared the knowledge they gained at a maternal-newborn health conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh last May. One thing that my interviewees discussed a lot was their excitement about Kangaroo Mother Care--a simple and remarkably effective method of caring for preterm and low-birthweight infants (it is also beneficial for full term/normal birthweight infants). It is great to see Kangaroo Mother Care getting attention in the popular media!
Also, since our future home has three bedrooms, Chris really wants to build a fort in one of them (photo from Buzzfeed). I also really like this Buzzfeed thread about "rethinking your bed."
Carla Bruni recently released a new album, and there is an article about her in the issue of Vanity Fair I received in the mail yesterday. I have had a slight crush on her since I first heard this song, which I love even though I don't speak French.

I'm really looking forward to this Saturday, when we get to see Dreamgirls starring my dear friend's dear friend, Bryonha Parham!
Now I have to get back to work on my opening argument for a debate about expedited partner therapy for gonorrhea and my presentation about the health benefits of *MODERATE* alcohol consumption.
