Breakfast for dinner

Lately we've been on a breakfast-for-dinner kick...probably because we don't want to buy a lot of food before we move, and we tend to be stocked up on eggs, flour, and other traditional breakfast foods. Last night, we had an epic BFD (breakfast-for-dinner) meal of pancakes, cinnamon roll waffles (more on that in a sec), homemade sausage, and beer-mosas (thank goodness someone posted a recipe for that, otherwise how would anyone know what to do!?) with our neighbors/friends.

Chris recently discovered cinnamon roll waffles, and they are potentially the best breakfast item ever (photo from moderndaymoms.com). Instead of heating up the oven to bake Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for 20 minutes (or whatever it is), you put them in the waffle iron for 4-5 minutes, and voila! It's not exactly a healthy meal for daily consumption, but they are a fun treat!

  I know that no one has been sitting around waiting for my input on how to vote this election, but the stakes feel so high that I am compelled to use whatever small voice I have to share my thoughts with anyone who might be moved by them! For my dad

A week later, on July 1, our family gathered in Sidney, Nebraska, to celebrate my dad's retirement after 35 years as a family physician there. 5 years later

Somehow five years have passed since I finished residency and since my dad's retirement party (though he had the party, he has yet to fully  retire). The passage of time is a funny thing...often when I'm running behind in my clinic schedule or when a patient arrives at 10:30 for their 8:15 appointment, I'll say something about time being a social construct or, "What even is time?" One of my coworkers and I often misquote Friedrich Nietzsche by saying, "Time is a square circle," which is our way of saying that time is meaningless or nonsensical. (I have just emerged from a deep dive into the Friedrich Nietzsche Wikipedia page where I learned or was reminded that the actual quote is "time is a flat circle" meaning essentially that history repeats itself.)
